As an enterprise we took on this project in March, 2018. It is with absolute pleasure and joy that we would like to announce the completion of the project. The annex structure was named after the father of the U.A.E and is named; The Year of Zayed Expansion.
The structure was established to accommodate 200+ students that were missing out basic education simply because the existing school did not have enough space. Some of these students, before the extension was completed, would travel 16km a day to another school in a nearby constituency.
We could have not achieved this without the help of our volunteers and the belief that was parked in our ability to deliver.
Primary Section Kitchen
The primary section in the same school has a small kitchen that cooks fresh soup for the kindergarteners every day. The kitchen is in pretty bad shape and lacks some basic facilities to run everyday operations. We have taken on the responsibility of fixing the kitchen, expanding the premises and build it in a manner that it can carry on its operations with ease. Once the kitchen is completed, we will move on to phase two of the operation; making it self-sustainable, not only being able to provide resources for cooking meals but also have the means to carry on repair work of everyday wear and tear.
The girl’s only orphanage in Kerala, India, needed life to be added into its soul. The structure from the outside is in pretty good shape, but it is the inside of the building that really needs a revamp. The orphanage currently accommodates 250 girls. We have started the renovation efforts inside the orphanage and will be carrying it out in stages. We will need a lot of support from our volunteers to complete this task in a timely and effective manner.
Elderly Retirement Home Renovation
The elderly retirement home is in urgent need of a new kitchen. The existing kitchen is in pretty bad condition and with the rainfall that comes every June/July & August, the current kitchen gets flooded with water. Cooking becomes and real tough task during these three months. Once the rain clears out, it leaves behind a lot of unwanted waste and insects crawling in the kitchen. In short, the existing kitchen is hardly operational for 6 months out of the year. We have taken on the challenge of constructing a new kitchen for this retirement home and hopefully with the help of our volunteers we will be able to finish this project soon.
